Role Overview:
This is an opportunity to join one of the largest and most esteemed teams in the country, nationally ranked Tier 1 in Chambers for this area of work. The Associate in the Health Advisory & Litigation team will manage a caseload of Court of Protection and inquest matters primarily for NHS clients, with opportunities to work with independent sector health, social care clients, and local authorities. The role includes both case management and advocacy, offering a variety of challenging and impactful legal work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a diverse caseload of Court of Protection and inquest matters.
- Deliver exceptional client service with strategic and commercial case management.
- Potential involvement in additional healthcare advisory work such as mental health cases.
- Delegate and supervise tasks to junior team members.
- Engage in marketing activities, including planning and delivering seminars and training.
- Achieve budgeted hours and fees, with a commitment to recording time promptly.
- Support the team in delivering high standards of client service.
Technical Skills Required:
- Experience in Court of Protection matters, particularly health and welfare applications, and serious medical treatment applications to the High Court.
- Advocacy and case management skills in relevant settings.
- Familiarity with health and social care advisory issues, including mental health, adult safeguarding, and funding disputes.
- Presentation skills for client and internal training.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to explain complex legal processes to clients.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and case management systems.
- Good understanding of the NHS and legal research facilities.
