Criminal Defence Solicitor – Derby

Are you a dedicated Criminal Defence Solicitor looking for your next opportunity? A well-established law firm in Derby is seeking a skilled and passionate professional to join their team.

The Role

As a Criminal Defence Solicitor, you will:

• Represent clients during police station interviews and Magistrates’ Court hearings.
• Prepare cases, conduct legal research, and draft necessary documents.
• Ensure compliance with Legal Aid Agency (LAA) requirements.
• Oversee the department’s day-to-day operations and conduct file reviews.
• Participate in the out-of-hours rota for police station attendances.

Requirements

• Qualified Solicitor (3+ years’ PQE).
• Strong advocacy experience.
• Duty Solicitor accreditation (or willingness to obtain it).
• Police Station Accreditation is essential.
• Excellent communication skills with a client-focused approach.
• Knowledge of legal aid billing (or willingness to learn).
