Seeking an Employment Partner to join a 10 person strong team which is continuing to grow and attract excellent quality work.
Our client is a highly ranked Leeds firm which offers an excellent alternative to the national firms.
The Employment department works on a variety of both contentious and non-contentious matters. These areas consist of Advisory work, Settlement Agreements, Tribunal work, non-contentious support work for other teams within the business and Project work.
Typical examples of the work undertaken by the department are as follows:
- General ad hoc queries from clients on a day-to-day basis. These cover all areas of employment law and will be dealt with by phone and email
- Giving advice on settlement agreements for either a Company or individual employee and negotiating the terms with the relevant parties
- Acting for respondents and defending claims brought against them by existing / former employees. Sometimes acting for claimants. Working through the process from when the claim comes in to the final hearing
- Drafting a variety of documents for clients e.g., Employment contracts and Consultancy agreements
- Supporting the corporate team with corporate transactions and advice relating to risks and liabilities of employees of a business being purchased / sold
- Supporting the commercial team with TUPE clause reviews / advice
- On occasion supporting the corporate recovery team
- Project work – this may include ‘consultancy-style’ investigations or changes to terms and conditions across a site
- Seminars and non-chargeable work with clients
The team boosts as impressive client list acting for Corporates and SME's, Entrepreneurs and highly paid directors, as well as public sector institutional clients.
The successful candidate will be expected to work alongside the Head of Department in managing the team and on BD initiatives.
Ideally you will already be a partner in a leading national or regional firm frustrated in your current role and looking for a new challenge in a law firm where you might find you are more culturally aligned. The firm are open to paying top market rates to attract the right candidate. As this is a strategic hire, there is no need for a client following.
