Head of Planning

Our client is a dynamic Yorkshire law firm. They are experiencing record levels of turnover and profitability through a combination of organic growth and the recruitment of key strategic hires.

They seek to appoint a senior lawyer to join the Real Estate department and specialise in Town and Country Planning, Highways and Compulsory Purchase law.

The successful candidate will already be operating at Legal Director or Partner level. Working with clients in both the private and public sectors, he/she will provide strategic advice in relation to major regeneration planning of large scale residential and mixed-use schemes, retail, business parks and employment development.  This includes: the promotion of sites through Local Plan Examinations; Planning Applications (including Appeals); Environmental Impact Assessment; the drafting and negotiation of complex Section 106 planning obligations (prior to the grant of planning permission); and providing ongoing advice following the grant of permission/implementation. 

On the litigious side, the current incumbent has supported clients in relation to High Court actions including Judicial Reviews and Injunctions.

An interest in mineral development and energy storage schemes would also be welcomed.
